How to Disable Windows Update

Follow the steps below to disable Windows Update and set it to notify for download:

1. Press Win + R to open the Run dialog box.
2. Type gpedit.msc and press Enter.
3. Navigate to Administrative Templates.
4. Go to Windows Components.
5. Select Windows Update.
6. Double-click Configure Automatic Updates.
7. Set it to Enabled and choose Notify for download and notify for install from the options.

Note: This will prevent automatic updates from downloading and installing without your permission, but will notify you when updates are available.
